Soccer Player Disappears During Goal Celebration

Cameroonian forward Joel scored two goals in a 3-1 win for Coritiba over Sao Paolo in Brazil's Serie A on Wednesday. For his second goal, he chose to celebrate by throwing himself down a giant hole in the ground.

The stadium features stairs that lead down to the dressing rooms below the field, which are placed just beyond the advertisements behind the goal line. Generally the best way to deal with something that a person could fall into is by covering it with a giant flag, right? Yeah, well that's what happened anyway.

As Joel went to leap over the wall, security personnel thought about saying something - one guy even raised his hands - but it was too late.

Somehow Joel isn't dead, and for his miraculous exit from the depths of the stadium, he received a yellow card for excessive celebration.

Sometimes You Need to Celebrate Your Goals by Giving Yourself a Mild Concussion

This video is from an amateur soccer league in Italy. Apparently this guy is a huge fan of Mario Balotelli and figured the only way he could compete with him would be to straight up ram his head through some plexiglass.

Three things stand out about this video.

1. The goalie should definitely not be playing in an Italian amateur league. Just a poor showing by him all around.

2. The focus on this guy is unreal. The second he scores the goal his eyes immediately head over to that bench. Not once does he break eye contact. When his teammates try to congratulate him he just shakes them off. There was one thing on this man's mind and that was mild head trauma.

3. The official was less than impressed...

Kings Dethroned By Oilers in Overtime

If you missed the third period of the Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers game Thursday night, you missed one of the best finishes to a hockey game in the past few years.

Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick had held the Oilers scoreless for nearly 59 minutes of the game when Oilers top-liner Ryan Nugent-Hopkins rifled one to the back of the net making the game 1-1.  However, the goal was then called back because of an apparent goaltender interference by Edmonton's Jordan Eberle.  With a minute to go, and the game on the line in Edmonton, the no goal call turned Rexall Place into a madhouse.

Trash rained down onto the ice.  Boos thundered through the arena as the scene above the ice looked like a hurricane with all the debris flying.  The scorer's table had to be toweled off after it was covered in beer and soda.  When the rowdy crowd finally cooled its jets, the game resumed.

The Oilers netminder Devan Dubnyk was pulled, giving them a six-on-five attacking advantage.  The seconds ticked away, and the home team's hopes became more dire.  Finally, with just under five seconds to go, Nail Yakupov got a pass down low and wristed a rocket over the shoulder of Quick.  Tie ballgame, sports fans.

The game went into overtime, and the Oilers were riding high, they poured pressure on Quick, and scored the game winner rather quickly, sending the Kings to their locker room, tails between their legs.

Hockey this season has been absolutely amazing.  The blog now has access to NHL Gamecenter Live, has been keeping up with all the action and is ready to pass it on to you readers.  Stay tuned and don't forget to check our Twitter page, @threeifbystrike!

Ibrahimovic Scores Best Goal Probably Ever

I mean, what's there to say about this goal?  It's absolutely unreal that the ball found its way to the back of the net.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could have either landed flat and broke himself, or scored one of the prettiest goals that this planet will ever see.  As if this goal isn't good enough on its own, Ibrahimovic had already scored three goals prior, and was the only Swedish player to score in a 4-2 friendly win over England.

Wow.

Pavel Datsyuk Gets Creative, Headbutts Puck Into the Net

The NHL lockout has been official for over a week, but that isn't stopping NHL stars from making headlines.  Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk, currently playing for CSKA Moscow of the KHL, nearly scored his first goal in his home country, but had it waived off.

Datsyuk put the puck on net which created a rebound that went straight in the air.  As he followed his own shot, the only real play he had was to use his head, since you can't put the puck in with your hands or play it with your stick above the crossbar.  To me, that's a good goal right there.  Another ref making a bad call?  You decide.

I post this video with many mixed emotions as I love to see good quality hockey in any regard, but hate that this occurrence was the product of the NHL lockout.
