David Akers Ties NFL Record with 63-Yard Kick

As time runs out in the first half of the Packers-49ers game, David Akers lines up a 63-yard field goal, which would tie the NFL record.  The ball flies straight as an arrow off his foot, kicked with enough force to knock down a house, but what goes up must come down.

The ball looks like it might lose steam as it enters the 10-yard line, but is still flying towards pay dirt.  It pings off the bottom of the crossbar, flips in the air for a few seconds, and lands about 4 feet past.  Doesn't get much closer than that.

Personally, I love to see Akers doing well.  2005 was the first and last time I played fantasy football, and I chose Akers... second round.  Yes, second round.  Of course that was the year he tore a hamstring only a few games in.  Hamstrings appear to be working fine now, though.

  1. Three if by Strike is in agreement about Akers. For my first year in the league I'm looking forward to a solid season if he keeps this type of momentum up.
